Who runs the world? Girls, of course! When it comes to saving the world, we’ve compiled a list of the 8 best female superheroes and what makes them way more awesome than their male-counterparts.

Wonder Woman is easily one of the most well-known superheroes. She is a loyal friend, leader of the Justice League, and all-around warrior queen! Her best power, though, is the ability to connect with humans from around the world, uniting them and showing their commonalities. One of her most underrated powers is the ability to speak EVERY language. She can communicate with anyone in their native tongue. How amazing is that?

Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch is one of the most powerful superheroes in the Marvel Universe. Her main power stems from chaos magic, an ultimate source of energy that allows her to manipulate and change anything she wants. She comes from a troubled past, but she still manages to remain optimistic and hopeful for the future.

Storm

Storm is one of the most powerful and most well-love superheroes in the Marvel Universe. She has one of the most striking appearances, standing at almost 6 feet tall, with dark skin and stark white hair. She can control any natural force of nature. As one of the leaders of the X-Men, she provides a calm, stabilizing demeanor for the group.

Shuri

As the sister of King T’Challa, aka, Black Panther, Shuri is not your typical princess. She’s a teenage genius scientist who leads the team engineers in charge of turning Wakanda’s precious metal, Vibranium, into usable technology for the WHOLE country (hello STEM enthusiasts!). She designed the weapons, her brother’s super suit, communication devices. And she’s not afraid to clown on her older brother.  

Mera

Mera is underwater royalty, who trained with Aquaman’s mother, Queen Atlanta in order to become a fierce fighter and then eventual leader of the Atlantean Guard. She is able to manipulate and control water, creating hard water objects, that can be used as weapons. Also, she can control large amounts of water, which she has used to pull entire armies of drowning men out of the sea. But beyond that, she cares deeply about her people, and is willing to stand up and take swift action against anyone who threatens her friends and family.

Mantis is an underrated character in the Marvel Universe. She’s a natural empath, using her abilities to connect with the Guardians of the Galaxy and manage their off-the-wall personalities as the team counselor. When Jax is riled up, Mantis can use her powers to immediately calm him down. But beyond that, she is a skilled fighter with powerful psychic abilities, including telepathy. She can even astral project herself, separating her spiritual body from her physical one.

Valkyrie

Valkyrie is the leader of the Asgardian all-woman special force, known as Valkyrior. She is one of the most amazing female superheroes! In other words, she is a fierce warrior, that rides into battle using her Winged horse Aragon. Also, she has super strength, incredible fighting abilities, and is nearly invincible. Though at first, she seems less than eager to be a hero, she goes through a journey of self-discovery and finds her place as the new leader of Asgard when Thor steps down.

Captain Marvel gained her intergalactic powers trying to save a friend. She is a fierce fighter, and an out-of-the-box thinker. Aside from having more power than even Superman, what makes her unstoppable is her out-of-the-box approach to challenges. Hands tied? Use your feet! Need to relieve some frustration? Engage in some hand-to-hand combat!

She fully embraces her powers and her uniqueness, making her the best woman superhero ever!
